It's Ok Thursday

I'm linking up with Amber today for an "Its Ok" Thursday.

Its Ok...

...that I'm on my second  (20 oz) cup of flavored coffee already this morning

...that I did a happy dance after I got on the scale this morning (-4.4 since last week)

...that I still haven't packed for my trip this weekend (hopefully the coffee I'm enjoying this morning will kick in during the wee hours of night while I'm packing)

...that I'm still rockin my Essie "Turquoise & Caicos" on my toes even though the color is definitely a summery color

...that I might get admitted to the hospital today due to a very infected bug bite from a poisonous spider (I find out at noon--please pray I don't)

...that this post is going to be short and sweet because I need to reread the cases for my next class (Crim Law)

...and that I'm leaving you with this song (that has quickly become one of my favorites):

Happy Thursday Friends & Thanks For Reading

I have not forgotten

September 11, 2001.

I was in 9th grade honors biology with Mr. Caffey.
My older brother was in school at St. Louis University.
My parents were on a flight to Las Vegas.

One of the administrators came over the intercom and tried to explain, what he couldn't comprehend, to students and teachers what had happened in New York, and then later,  Washington D.C..

Televisions were set up throughout the school.
Cell Phones were not confiscated, with students and teachers alike calling their loved ones.
Attendance was not taken, but no one seemed to leave.

I have not forgotten.
Listening to the radio on my way to class, I heard various tributes to the armed forces, to the FDNY, NYPD, to the fallen, to the victims. I heard children whose parents died in the towers say "Our Dad isn't gone...Look at us, and you can still see him...We miss you Daddy." I heard a wife of a fallen New York Firefighter thank her husband for the laughter, the smiles, and for how loved she still felt.

So it's my prayer especially that God will Bless America, not only today, but everyday.

Weekend Recap

Is it just me, or does this week (even though it's just Sunday night) seem longer than normal due to the short week last week?

This weekend was relatively low key, which was a nice change from the past couple weekends... I did some overnight "baby-sitting," which meant it was early to bed for this girl all weekend. (Not to mention the 6 hour nap I took on Sunday)

Saw MG (who was in from NorCal) to start off the weekend (Mexican and Margaritas)...the best part of hanging out was knowing that I get to visit her this coming weekend!!! MG is one of those people that I only get to see a few times a year now, but every time I see her it's so easy to pick up where we left off--like we were together the day before!

Made some Fajitas (with Hatch Chiles) on Friday...I was so excited about the Hatch Chile phenoma, but when we cooked them--I was less than impressed. They reminded me of a green pepper with a little more bite :/ I also watched "Cabin in the Woods"--I wouldn't recommend it because it scared me and because it's sorta gory. Gross.

Took my cousin's daughter to the park on Saturday...we played hide and seek, went on the slides, ran up and down the hill (which was awful), and enjoyed the beautiful weather.

Homemade Greek Food was Saturday Night's objective (Chicken Gyros and Greek Salad)--cooking became the perfect distraction--instead of watching the Huskers (especially their defense) fall apart against UCLA. This Greek Salad was so yummy and so simple to make! (4 small tomatoes chopped, 1/2 a red onion diced, 2 organic cucumbers chopped, and 1/2 block of traditional feta crumbled....stir, stir, stir, and enjoy).

As mentioned, I napped an embarrassing amount on Sunday, especially after sleeping 8 or 9 hours the night before. I had my quarterly meeting for Ann Taylor (we got to preview some of our Holiday Collection--which is pretty fabulous). I studied...and picked out my tv shows for fall on Hulu.

Definitely a laid back weekend.
Happy Monday Friends & Thanks For Reading :)

Jumble

I've come to the conclusion that there just aren't enough hours in the day...and that I really miss bloggy friends, and blogging in general. So here is a very random and jumbled update on my life :)

Fitness:
I Joined Lifetime, and I couldn't be more obsessed with it. Every time I go I feel like I'm at a spa, the group fitness is fantastic, and I'm really excited to get in shape (with the goal of doing a triathlon prior to graduation in May)  On a more depressing note: during my initial assessment my trainer goes, oh you can lose at least 25-40 pounds (I thought 15-25 would be more than enough))...

I haven't figured out how to square this with my love for Mexican Food and Margaritas. However I've fallen in love with Protein Shakes for Breakfast (Chocolate Protein and PB2 mixed with water--tastes like Reeses, less than 300 calories, and keeps me so full). I've also become a big fan of fish oil (it's supposed to help with skin, hair, cardiovascular health, along with helping some lbs come off).

School:
I made it to my 3rd (and last) year of Law School (not even kidding, I actually breathed a sigh of relief when I wrote that statement). I'm still clerking at the same place that I started in the Winter of my First Year. Along with clerking a few days a week, I'm to the point in my schedule where I get the chance to take all electives...except for Criminal Law. So I'm taking negotiations, alternative dispute resolution, juvenile law, children family and the state, along with the aforementioned crim law.
Travel:
I've Taken A Few Trips This Month...both were pretty spur of the moment, but a ton of fun. Aspen, right before school started--that involved lots of road biking up mountains (I get sore legs thinking about it), biking down Snowmass Mountain on their ski runs (scariest thing ever)...eating lots of delicious food and of course trying some yummy drinks.
Denver was over Labor Day Weekend, which we decided to do about 8 hours prior to leaving. Same story as Aspen, lots of biking, great food, and of course yummy drinks.

Happy Thursday Friends!
