Last May, I had one of the worst experiences of my life, and it was all my fault. (If you know me, your jaw pry hit the floor with that last statement). I'm still embarrassed about this, so up to today, I didn't really want to post about it.
I ran a half marathon with my Sister-in-law last May. It was our second one together. To say I was unprepared would be an understatement...I was almost in tears by the end of the experience. By mile 6, I was thinking of creative ways to break my leg, sprain my ankle, or fall in a way that would stop the madness.
I signed up for that same half back in December, it was completely full by 12/27...and I'm running it again on May 6th. I'm following the Hal Higdon program (I've successfully stuck to weeks 1 and 2, which my parents would tell you is a rarity), I'm going pescartarian until the race is over, and I'm doing it by myself. (*I do have quite a few friends running and we're all celebrating together after the race)...
I'm not going to make this blog a running or healthy person blog, since candy, popcorn and potatoes are my favorite foods...pickles too...but I will keep you guys updated on the training, the race, and of course the party after :)
I'd love any thoughts or advice about this!!!

Girl this is awesome! I have been following a 10k running program and it's going well so far. I struggle with running..good and bad days! Trying to train it and be disciplined! I'll definitely be praying for you because I know how it goes! Keep me posted! Love :)
ReplyDeleteROCK ON!! I have several friends who are half/full marathon runners and they all love it like I love candy! ;) I am going to train for one someday, but for now I will live vicariously through people like you. GO THE DISTANCE!
ReplyDeleteYou go girl! So proud of you! And I can't believe you even ran it at all last year without having trained like crazy! I commend you! I would have definitely faked a sprained ankle! ha! And you saying that reminded me.. When I was taking the bar, I was thinking "If I could JUST get in a car accident... just bad enough to keep me from studying/taking the test...but not so bad I'd be in the hospital a long time.." Seriously. If you're already having those thoughts about a race, just wait til bar exam time! LOL! you get cray cray!
ReplyDeleteThat was a random rant. But whatev. I'm super proud of your commitment to the run! You rock!!
Go girl! I did a half 2 years ago to win (successfully) the attention of Mr. C! I power walked most of it though and just turned up the tunes and spent a nice 2 hours by myself on the sound side of Nags Head while Mr. C ran on ahead like in the front hahaha! You got this!
ReplyDeleteYou are so funny! Do u remember me at the end of Omaha??. Similar feelings, haha. Wish I was doing Lincoln with u this year =(
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! I seriously cannot believe you went through with the whole thing! I would have definately faked a sprain or any remote injury to get out of finishing. I give you serious props for finishing, because I can barely get through a couple jogs around the track.
